A quick trip to the plastic surgeon immediately after his release completed the transformation. Three of the four tormentors have been killed on successive Valentine's Days. Now Victor plans to complete his vengeance by murdering mystery novelist Jill Talbot. Savage uses his two primary settings, Greenwich Village and a writers' colony on the tip of Long Island, to excellent effect, and he even manages to make Victor an understandable character without minimizing the horror of his crimes.
